Bodhisattva
A person who has reached enlightenment but chooses to stay in the world to help others.
What is it?
In Buddhism, a bodhisattva is someone who is on the path to becoming a Buddha. They have great compassion and wisdom. Instead of leaving the world, they stay to help all beings achieve liberation. Guanyin (Avalokiteshvara) is one of the most famous bodhisattvas, known for compassion. The seated Guanyin statue you captured is a depiction of a bodhisattva. Bodhisattvas are often shown with peaceful expressions and elegant poses.
