What is it?
Southeast Asia is a region in Asia that includes countries like Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines. It has tropical rainforests, mountains, and many islands. The banteng lives in the forests of this region. Other animals include the tiger, elephant, and orangutan. The tentacled snake is found in Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam, living in lakes, rice paddies, slow-moving streams, and brackish water.
Why it matters
Southeast Asia has incredible biodiversity. Many species are found only there. Protecting its forests and freshwater habitats is important for global conservation.
