Ramesses II, also called Ramesses the Great, was a pharaoh of the 19th Dynasty. He ruled from 1279 to 1213 BCE. He is known for his military campaigns and for building many temples, including the Great Temple at Abu Simbel. He had many statues of himself erected throughout Egypt. He lived to be about 90 years old and had many wives and children.
