What is it?
South America is a large continent that includes countries like Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, and many others. It has the Amazon rainforest, the Andes mountains, and many rivers. The Cuvier's dwarf caiman lives in freshwater rivers and flooded forests across several South American countries, including Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and others. The yellow-footed tortoise also lives in the tropical rainforests of South America, especially east of the Andes.
Why it matters
South America has incredible biodiversity. Many animals, like the Cuvier's dwarf caiman and the yellow-footed tortoise, live only here. Protecting its habitats is important for global conservation.
