What is it?
The Gran Chaco is a large region covering parts of Argentina, Paraguay, and Bolivia. It has dry forests, shrublands, and grasslands. It is very hot in summer and cooler in winter. The Chacoan peccary lives here, along with other animals like armadillos and giant anteaters. The region is threatened by farming and ranching.
Why it matters
The Gran Chaco is one of the most biodiverse places in South America. It is home to many species found nowhere else. Protecting it is important for conservation.
