Veduta is an Italian word meaning "view." In art, it refers to a highly detailed, realistic painting of a cityscape or landscape. Vedute were especially popular in the 1700s in Venice. Artists like Canaletto and Bernardo Bellotto specialized in vedute. They used careful perspective and light to make the scene look real.
