What is it?
Male incubation is when the male bird takes care of the eggs by sitting on them. In most birds, the female incubates the eggs, or both parents share the job. But in some birds like the Elegant Crested Tinamou, the male does all the incubating. He also takes care of the chicks after they hatch. This is called paternal care.
Why it matters
