Roman art includes sculptures, paintings, mosaics, and architecture. The Romans admired Greek art and made many copies of Greek statues in marble. They also created realistic portrait busts of emperors and citizens. The statue of Artemis/Diana you captured might be a Roman copy of a Greek original. Roman artists were skilled at capturing movement and detail.
Why it matters
Roman art spread across the Roman Empire, influencing many cultures. Many Roman copies are the only way we know what Greek statues looked like.
