What is it?
Roman mythology is similar to Greek mythology. The Romans adopted many Greek gods and gave them new names. For example, Artemis became Diana. Diana is also the goddess of the hunt and the moon. The statue you captured could be a Roman version of Artemis, called Diana. The Romans made many marble copies of Greek statues.
Why it matters
Roman mythology helped shape Roman culture and art. Many Roman statues and paintings show these gods. Understanding Roman mythology helps you identify them in museums.
