What is it?
The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood was a group of English artists formed in 1848. They wanted to paint like artists before Raphael (a famous Italian painter), with clear colors, fine details, and realistic scenes. They often painted stories from the Bible, medieval legends, and Shakespeare. John Everett Millais was a founder. His painting 'The Return of the Anglo-Saxon' shows the Pre-Raphaelite style with its bright colors and careful details.
