What is it?
Africa is the second largest continent on Earth. It has deserts like the Sahara, rainforests like the Congo Basin, savannas, and wetlands. Many unique animals live here, including lions, elephants, giraffes, and the Saddle-billed Stork. The Saddle-billed Stork lives in wetlands and savannas across sub-Saharan Africa. Colobus monkeys live in the tropical rainforests of central and west Africa. The colobus monkey you captured also lives in African rainforests. The Puff Adder is found throughout Africa, in dry areas, swamps, and forests. It is one of the most widespread snakes on the continent. The Black Mamba also lives in sub-Saharan Africa, in savannas, river forests, and coastal bushes.
Why it matters
Africa has incredible biodiversity. Many species are found only there. Protecting its habitats is important for the whole planet.
