What is it?
A sphinx is a statue or image that combines a lion's body with a human head. In ancient Egypt, sphinxes were often placed at temple entrances to guard them. The most famous is the Great Sphinx of Giza. The sphinx you captured has the face of Pharaoh Sesostris III. Sphinxes symbolized the pharaoh's power and wisdom.
Why it matters
