Pollination
The way pollen moves from one flower to another so plants can make seeds.
What is it?
Pollination is when pollen from the male part of a flower lands on the female part of another flower. This helps the plant make seeds and fruit. Many animals help with pollination, including bees, butterflies, birds, and beetles like the garden fruit chafer. When a beetle visits a flower to eat, pollen sticks to its body and gets carried to the next flower.
Why it matters
Pollination is how many plants reproduce. Without it, we wouldn't have many fruits, vegetables, or flowers. Pollinators are important for food and for healthy ecosystems.
