What is it?
Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world, located in the Indian Ocean. It has a tropical climate with rainforests, dry forests, and deserts. Many species live only here, such as lemurs, chameleons, and the Madagascar periwinkle. The island separated from Africa millions of years ago, so its plants and animals evolved in isolation. The Madagascar periwinkle is native to this island and is now grown worldwide as an ornamental and medicinal plant.
