China and Mongolia Deserts
A vast dry region in Central Asia, home to the Bactrian camel.
What is it?
The deserts of China and Mongolia include the Gobi Desert and other arid areas. These deserts have extreme temperatures: very hot in summer and very cold in winter. They are home to the Bactrian camel, which is adapted to survive in these harsh conditions. The Bactrian camel is a critically endangered species that lives in these deserts.
Why it matters
These deserts are unique ecosystems. They are home to many specially adapted plants and animals. Protecting them is important for conservation.
