Saint Christopher is a Christian saint from the 3rd century. According to legend, he was a giant who carried people across a river. One day he carried a child who became very heavy; the child revealed himself as Christ, and Christopher's name means "Christ-bearer." He is one of the most popular saints in medieval Europe, especially as a protector of travelers.
