Leone Leoni

What is it?
Leone Leoni (1509–1590) was an Italian sculptor who worked for the Habsburg emperors, including Charles V. He was known for his bronze sculptures and medals. He made a famous bronze statue of Charles V defeating the Fury of War, which is now in the Prado Museum. The statue you saw was likely made after a model by Leoni, but by a Flemish artist.
