Socrates

An ancient Greek philosopher who taught by asking questions, and who chose to die rather than give up his beliefs.

What is it?

Socrates (c. 470–399 BCE) was a philosopher from Athens, Greece. He didn't write books; instead, he talked with people in the marketplace, asking questions to make them think. This method is called the Socratic method. He was accused of corrupting the youth and not believing in the city's gods. He was sentenced to death by drinking poison hemlock.
