Omnivore
An animal that eats both plants and other animals.
What is it?
An omnivore is a creature that eats a variety of foods, including plants and meat. The Red-billed Blue Magpie is an omnivore: it eats fruits, insects, small animals, and even eggs. Humans are also omnivores. Other examples include bears, raccoons, and crows.
Why it matters
Omnivores are flexible eaters, which helps them survive in different environments. They play important roles in ecosystems by controlling populations and spreading seeds.
