Food Chain
The order in which living things eat each other to get energy.
What is it?
A food chain shows who eats whom in nature. For example, grass is eaten by a zebra, and the zebra is eaten by a lion. The cactus longhorn beetle eats cactus plants and dead matter, and then it is eaten by birds, lizards, or other predators. Understanding food chains helps us see how energy moves through an ecosystem.
Why it matters
