Social Justice
The idea that everyone should be treated fairly and have the same rights.
What is it?
Social justice is about fairness in society. It means fighting against racism, poverty, and inequality. Many artists have used their work to support social justice. Norman Lewis was both an artist and an activist. He painted abstract works that sometimes addressed racial issues. For example, his painting "Twilight Sounds" may not directly show protest, but his art was part of a larger movement for equality. Other artists, like Jacob Lawrence, also painted about social justice.
