The way animals interact with each other in groups.
What is it?
Social behavior includes all the ways animals communicate, cooperate, and live together. Pelicans show social behavior by living in colonies, hunting together, and raising their young in groups. Other examples include bees working in a hive, wolves hunting in packs, and dolphins swimming in pods.
Why it matters
Social behavior helps animals survive. It allows them to find food, protect each other, and care for young. Studying social behavior helps us understand how animal societies work and even gives insights into human society.
