Perspective
A way of drawing or painting that makes flat pictures look three-dimensional and deep.
What is it?
Perspective is a technique artists use to show space and distance on a flat surface. In the Renaissance, artists like Ghirlandaio used linear perspective to make their paintings look realistic. They made objects smaller as they get farther away, and used lines that meet at a point on the horizon. In your painting, the floor tiles and the throne show perspective, making the scene feel deep.
Why it matters
Perspective changed art forever. It allowed artists to create the illusion of real space. Before the Renaissance, paintings often looked flat. Perspective made them look like windows into another world.
