Seychelles is an island country in the Indian Ocean, off the coast of East Africa. It has many islands with beautiful beaches and coral reefs. The Aldabra Atoll is a group of islands in Seychelles where the Aldabra tortoise lives. The tortoise lives in grasslands, shrublands, and mangrove swamps there.
Why it matters
Seychelles has unique wildlife, including the Aldabra tortoise, which is found nowhere else. Protecting its islands helps conserve this critically endangered species.
