What is it?
Lake Titicaca is a very large lake in the Andes Mountains, on the border of Peru and Bolivia. It is one of the highest navigable lakes in the world. The water is cold and clear. The Titicaca water frog lives only in this lake.
Why it matters
Lake Titicaca has unique wildlife found nowhere else. It is also important to the people who live around it, who depend on it for fishing and water. Protecting the lake helps save the Titicaca water frog and other species.
