A group of islands in Indonesia, east of Java, with unique animals like the Timor Python.
What is it?
The Lesser Sunda Islands are a chain of islands in Indonesia, including Bali, Lombok, Sumbawa, Flores, and Timor. They have tropical forests, savannas, and volcanoes. The Timor Python lives on some of these islands: Lembata, Adonara, Solor, and Flores. It inhabits open tropical forests.
Why it matters
These islands have many animals found nowhere else. Protecting their forests helps save species like the Timor Python.
