What is it?
The Holy Roman Empire was not a single country, but a collection of many smaller kingdoms, duchies, and cities. It covered parts of modern Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Czech Republic, and other countries. It was ruled by an emperor, who was elected by powerful nobles. Charles V was one of its most famous emperors. Bronze busts of Charles V were created in this empire to honor him.
