What is it?
Sub-Saharan Africa is the region of Africa that lies south of the Sahara Desert. It includes many countries like Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, and Tanzania. It has many different habitats: savannas, rainforests, deserts, and mountains. The Bateleur eagle lives in the savannas and open woodlands of this region. Other animals like lions, elephants, and giraffes also live here.
Why it matters
Sub-Saharan Africa has incredible biodiversity. Many species are found only there. Protecting its habitats is important for the whole planet.
