What is it?
The modern art period began around the 1860s with Impressionism and continued through the mid-20th century. It includes many movements like Fauvism, Cubism, and Abstract Expressionism. Henri Matisse worked during this period. His painting "Bathers with a Turtle" was made around 1908, in the early part of the modern art period.
