What is it?
The Modern period in art includes many movements like Cubism, Surrealism, and Abstract Art. Artists like Piet Mondrian created completely new ways of painting. They wanted to express modern life and new ideas. Mondrian's Neoplasticism was part of this period.
Why it matters
The Modern period changed art forever. It opened the door for all kinds of experimental and abstract art that we still see today.
