What is it?
The Third Republic was the French government that began after the fall of Emperor Napoleon III in 1870. It lasted until the German invasion in 1940. This period saw the Siege of Paris, the construction of the Eiffel Tower, and World War I. It was a time of democracy, but also of political struggles.
