What is it?
Tropical forests are found near the equator. They are warm all year and get a lot of rain. They are home to more kinds of plants and animals than any other ecosystem. Leaf insects live in tropical forests in Asia and Australia. The trees and leaves provide food and hiding places.
Why it matters
Tropical forests are important for the planet. They produce oxygen and store carbon. They are also home to millions of species, many of which are not found anywhere else.
