Cooperative Feeding
When animals work together to catch food.
What is it?
Cooperative feeding is when a group of animals hunts or forages together to get food more easily. Pelicans are a great example: they form a line or circle in the water and flap their wings to herd fish into shallow areas, then scoop them up. Other animals like wolves, lions, and dolphins also hunt cooperatively.
Why it matters
Cooperative feeding shows that some animals are social and smart. It helps them catch more food than they could alone. Studying it helps scientists understand animal intelligence and social behavior.
